U.S. HOUSE PASSES FASTER LABOR CONTRACTS ACT
Thursday, May 28, 2026
The U.S. House has passed the bipartisan Faster Labor Contracts Act - an important step toward ending the long delays workers face after voting to unionize. Today, it takes an average of 458 days to secure a first contract, leaving workers stuck while employers drag out negotiations.
This bill sets real deadlines: bargaining must start within 10 days, mediation begins at 90 days, and binding arbitration follows if either side refuses to come to the table.
When workers choose a union, they shouldn’t wait years for a contract. This legislation helps ensure they won’t.
