Republicans “One Big Beautiful Bill” Advances Out of Committee – Cuts Energy Tax Credits, Prevailing Wage, and Medicaid

Over the weekend, House Republicans advanced President Trump’s agenda in his self-titled “One Big Beautiful Bill” via their reconciliation package. As written, the legislation would get rid of critical energy tax incentives that put UA members to work, limit Davis-Bacon prevailing wage protections on federally funded projects, cut apprenticeship requirements, and gut Medicaid funding that would leave millions without coverage.

We want to be clear: this bill is not the final legislation. Negotiations are ongoing, and the UA is working with our allies in both parties to ensure UA priorities are protected. The U.S Senate will still need to pass its own version. The UA Legislative Department is tracking every draft and change that comes to ensure the final package protects our jobs, our wages, and our apprenticeship programs.
