Dear Parents and Grandparents,

The Plumbing Industry Promotion Fund of New York City offers scholarships to eligible and qualified persons in New York’s Plumbing Industry. This includes families of Local 1 members. Applications must be completed and returned to the Promotion Fund office no later than February 1, 2014.

Scholarship selections are made by an independent committee of distinguished educators from the field of higher education whose training and experience qualify them to evaluate the applicants.

We ask you to please read the rules and regulations, but equally important, have your children/grandchildren read them.

The Leonard X. Farbman Memorial Scholarship Program annually awards each recipient a $2,000 per year scholarship, for a maximum of four (4) years of undergraduate/graduate studies (See Scholarship for Successive Years). Recipients of the Program may attend any accredited college, university, graduate school or approved technical institution in the United States and may select any course of study.

Applications must be completed and returned to the Promotion Fund office no later than February 1, 2014. All personal and scholastic information regarding the applicant's qualifications for scholarship must be submitted with the official application form. A Selection Committee will evaluate applicants, between February and April 2014, by use of such information as high school or college academic records, extracurricular activities, school recommendations, test scores, and will recommend the applicants to the Trustees in order of preference. The Trustees will make the final selection or selections in or about April 2014.
