MES Journeyman Training
As technology, equipment and codes
continue to change in the plumbing service industry, you
need to keep up with the most up-to-date procedures on the
job. The Plumbers Local 1 Training Center has a qualified
staff of journeymen instructors to help you get the job done
effectively and efficiently. For Mechanical Equipment and
Service journeymen who want to keep up to date on the latest
materials, methods, products and codes, the Plumbers Local 1
Training Center offers a variety of service journeyman
training courses. To accommodate the members’ work schedule,
classes are offered in the evening at our centrally located
facility in Queens.
Under the direction of NYC Department
of Education and U.A. certified instructors, the service
training program addresses subjects such as basic
electricity, code and theory, N.Y. State certified backflow
prevention, drafting & plan reading, computer skills for
service plumbers, residential fire suppression systems, OSHA
Safety, electric controls for mechanical equipment, and
medical gas systems. We also offer classes to prepare you
for the ISO 9000 recognized STAR exam, which is accepted by
the Plumbers Local 1 Examining Board as part of the upgrade
requirements for the Building Trades Division. As the
Plumbing Industry continues to change, the Plumbers Local 1
Training Center will continue to respond with additional
courses to address future demands of the service industry.
Our journeymen training courses create highly productive
service plumbers, who can deliver the expertise and
professionalism that the plumbing service industry demands.
