____________________________________________________________ PHOTO FILE - May 24, 2005 CAREERS IN CONSTRUCTION EXPO 2005 On Tuesday, May 24, 2005 the New York Building and Construction Trades attended a Career Day sponsored by Construction Skills 2000. More than 1000 New York City high school students, expressing interest in joining the Building Trades unions of New York City, were brought to the Javits Convention Center, with school officials.

SET-UP DAY MONDAY, MAY 23, 2005
At 6:30 A.M. on the morning of Monday May 23, our first training trailer arrived. At 40 feet long, the U.A. Medical Gas Mobile Trainer was the smaller of the two trailers the U.A. provided for our event.
At 7:00 A.M. on the morning of Monday May 23, our second training trailer arrived. At 48 feet long, the U.A. Mobile Welder Training and Testing Unit was much larger and heavier.
Our Monday crew of apprentices were ready for the challenge of assisting our instructors with setting up our trailers and other display items for the Careers in Construction Expo 2005. This is Plumbers Local 1 class 5A1. Joseph Alberti, Salvatore Catapano, Alan Delvecchio, Jr., Louis C. Halpern, Fabian La Chapelle, Kwok Wai(Carey)Lau, Andrew Malloy, Jeffery Nunez, Peter Roque.

We prepared 7 display areas for our exibit. The welding trailer was set up for live welding displays. The medical gas trailer was set up to simulate the operation of a hospital. A display of the textbooks Local 1 uses in our training program was set up. A demonstration area for basic piping tools was set up. A demonstration area for CAD (computer aided drafting) was set up. A demonstration area for layout using laser levels and laser measuring devices was set up. And finally, in the center of the Local 1 exibit, an information area was set up to answer questions and provide information about our apprenticeship program.
EVENT DAY TUESDAY, MAY 24, 2005

Opening ceremonies were held at 9:00 A.M.
Our Tuesday crew of apprentices were ready for the challenge of assisting our instructors with operating our trailers and other display areas for the Careers in Construction Expo 2005. This is Plumbers Local 1 class 8A1.
